Why do I need to accept "cookies"?

Hour.ca needs your browser to accept "cookies" in order to authentify your member identity prior to accessing certain functions, like posting comments, playing at the auctions, receiving free prizes, subscribing to newsletters, modifying your profile, etc. This approach ensures that no person other than yourself can access your personal information nor use any service in your place.

What are "cookies"?

A "cookie" is a small file placed by a server on your computer. In the case of Hour.ca's server, "cookies" are used mainly to: 1. Allow you to post comments without having to re-enter your name and e-mail each time 2. Allow you to participate in the Free Contests/Auctions 3. Allow you to access the private information in your profile 4. Allow you to change the information in your profile.

This is no different than the many websites who send "cookies" to your computer in order to recognize you on your next visit and return information according to your customized preferences.

The Hour.ca "cookie" contains the following info about you :

·	the fact that you have already visited the website
·	the date and time at which you have visited the website
·	the userid with which you accessed the website
·	and occasionally, the number of times you've been presented to a specific ad (in order to limit your exposure to this ad to, say, 1 or 2 or 3 times maximum)

What to do for my browser to accept "cookies"?

For Netscape browsers:

·	click on "Preferences"
·	click on "Advanced"
·	click on "Accept all cookies"
·	click on "OK"

For the Explorer 4.0 browser:

·	click on the "View" menu
·	click on "Options"
·	click on the "Advanced" tab
·	click on "Always accept cookies"
·	click on "OK"

For the Explorer 5.0+ browsers:

·	click on the "Tools" menu
·	click on "Internet Options"
·	click on the "Security" tab
·	click on "Custom Level"
·	click on "Allow cookies that are stored on your computer"
·	click on "OK"
