Irrepressible trombonist/composer/bandleader Claude St-Jean is a local treasure who deserves to be known round the world. I'm not kidding. Between his two groups L'Orkestre des Pas Perdus and Les Projectionnistes, St-Jean is producing some of the most exciting, intelligent and purely enjoyable music coming out of this city. The OPP's touchstones are central European fanfare groups, but he also throws in a Latin flavour, and it seems that they cover the map. Tight horn lines and whip-smart, up-tempo arrangements delivered with wit and verve put the booty-shake quotient way high. Where are they going? Places, if justice serves.

L'Orkestre des Pas Perdus, Great Musicians

A few weeks ago, I saw that cuivro orquestra at La Sala Rosa, on St-Laurent street. They

are mature musicians with a lot of experience and original musics. I bought their newest CD

and my urban life is more brilliant since then. Great.
