Rammstein - (Republic/Universal)

Lichtspielhaus
Mitch Joel

Now best known for the raucous hit Du Hast, the hard German industrial band blasts through the tunes with a live show that is a virtual inferno of fire and metal. Flame-throwing torches are an integral part of the parcel on this DVD, a veritable Dofasco of molten steel madness forged in fire for over three and a half hours. It includes all of their "hit" videos (depending on which part of the world you're from), a series of documentaries and even concert "highlights" from all over the world. While Rammstein never made music to hum to, Lichtspielhaus is the complete Rammstein package for any fan.

Lichtspielhaus : perfect for all Rammstein fans

Let's begin with a really bad joke :

This goes to those who think that Rammstein should get rid of the "dorky keyboard player"(aka Flake). Imagine if Flake got kicked out and later joined Korn ? It would sound even sillier to say that one likes to listen to "the sound of Korn's Flake".

+++++

This musical DVD is one of the best so far. It features all of Rammstein's videos, plus lots of interviews, making of's, and behind the scenes. The interviews are in German but you can always switch to subtitles. One should also mention that the portions of the DVD dedicated to the making of the videos for "Links 2-3-4" , "Die Sonne" or "Ich Will" are quite thorough. The first video, which involves thousands of ants who seem like they perform almost human tasks, is stunning as the eye cannot tell between real insects and CGI. "Die Sonne" is funny and compelling as the story of Snow White and the 7 Dwarves gets the Rammstein treatment as Snow White almost OD's. "Ich Will" will surely appeal to those who want to get rid of Flake (keyboard player) as he gets blown off by a bomb during a heist.

As live performances have always been Rammstein's forte, Lichtspielhaus also features certain live performances from around the globe where the band's special blend of metal and industrial music is played on a backdrop of dangerous pyrotechnics and stunts involving flames. The visual effects are just as intense as the music.

Finally, the presentation of Lichtspielhaus is also in a class of its own as the animated interface used to get to videos looks more like a videogame than your average music DVD.

Burning up your dvd!!!

Simply put,Rammstein rocks!!! And this dvd proves this band is a sight to see live.I have never eperienced their live show,but I am sure it's amazing!!This DVD is perfect for both die hard fans as well as the casual listener,I only knew one album before I watched it and ever since I've been a huge fan.The DVD includes live footage(lots off fire,flames and torches!!),as well as some music videos.The only thing that I hated about it was it was kind of complicated to get to skip to a certain song,the menus don't work that great and there is no "Skip to a song" menu for the live set.Other than that,though this DVD rocks!!

Ich Liebe Rammstein

Ok, I've been reading these comments, and I must say that it's really upsetting that so many people think that Flake is useless in the band. The whole point of R+'s sound is MACHINES and MUSIC fused together. If it weren't for Flake, R+ just wouldn't be the same. Personally, part of the reason why I like R+ so much is their industrial sound. Rammstein without Flake is like cookies without sugar; it can't be done (unless you're one for those low-fat, low-glucose, taste-like-cardboard treats...yuck)

Now I see that I am the only one to post in a long time (almost a year, actually) so I can be the first to comment on their new album "Reise, Reise" (Journey, Journey). It's an absolute wonderful work of art. It's so different, so new, and so much more natural sounding. But the thing with Rammstein is that it's hard to say one album is better than the other; they are all so different that they are not even on the same scale. One must have a very particular taste to discrimminate.

My only hope is that they return to Montreal again! :stands outside Metropolis desperetly waiting for their return:

Lichtspielhaus=rammstein at its best

Lichtspielhaus is an awesome music dvd of my favourite heavy metal band, RAMMSTEIN. I have all their cds, and it's so good to be able to have a dvd that has all their best songs on it. Their style is so kick ass, something american bands have to incorporate. The only disheartening thought is how rarely rammstein tours montreal. I would love to go to a concert of theirs. Watching the live concerts on "Lichtspielhaus" you see the immense popularity and power rammstein has in germany. The vast crowds truly enjoy rammstein and now through this dvd we also get to, even here in canada. The interviews bring out rammstein in a new light. and it is amazing to see how the music videas are made.

Comment of a Rammstein Fan that I am

I was reading your comments concerning Flake aka " the dorky keyboard player ". In some interview, on an earlier DVD, Rammstein explain why Flake isn't really a member of their band. Here's what I remember of it : " When they asked Flake, if he wanted to be a part of the band, he didn't really answer, he just kept playing their songs, but he considers this music as being primitive " .... or something like that. This guy is a really good keyboard player, but he only plays background noises in the Rammstein songs so that's why he doesn't really fit. I also though that he wasn't really useful in the band, but then I listened carefully to some of my favorite songs, then I noticed that his keyboard improve them a lot.

If you're curious about this band you can go on http://www.herzeleid.com , they have lots of interesting articles and forums about this great german band. ;)

Electronic Music

Rammstein are one of the best industrial artists in the world. This band hails from Germany where electronic music is very huge in the country. Rammstein's music is very provocative and it has a lot of energy. These guys now how to put on a good show and get the party moving and bumping. I have been a fan of this band for a very long time and with each album out they just get better and better.

Rammstein is a classic act and these guys have been on top of their game for a very long time. The cool thing about Rammstein is that these guys make some really cool videos for the world to watch.

RAMMSTEIN

I will consider buying this. I saw a video of them on the family values tour 1999. Very heavy even though the language might be hard to decipher. Entertainers for sure. I like the modern sound, but i do think that maybe this band should get rid of the dorky keyboard player...i don't find HE fits in, not the tech sounds...
