Electric Light Orchestra - (Eagle Vision)

Out of the Blue - Live at Wembley (DVD)
Jamie O'Meara

This is '70s arena rock at the apex of its flatulent laser-lit grandiosity. ELO was where poodle-permed hair, smoking spaceship stages and sequin encrusted string sections intersected with stadium-sized sound. This is a beautifully packaged, remastered recording of their 1978 Wembley appearance - laden with cheeseball, first generation video camera effects - and is just the thing for the remaining ELO fan I'm sure is out there somewhere.

ELO on DVD.

This should be interesting. ELO have put out a lot of great tunes. I'm glad it's not a reuinion tour. I always thought it was weird that Bev Bevan (drummer) actually went on to play with Black Sabbath for the Born Again album. But, That's neither here nor there. These guys are very talented musicians and i did get the chance to see them live, here in Ottawa, a long time ago. So if you don't know Electric Light Orchestra, I would give this DVD a chance. I hope they cover 'Roll Over Beethoven'-they do the best version ever! They put on a light \ cinema show that is way ahead of time for their era.

DVDs unleashed!!!--Electric Light Orchestra/Out of the Blue - Live at Wembley [DVD]

There was a time when these guys were gods. Now they're a footnote in Rock n' Roll history. It's easy to forget how *huge* these guys were at one point because the only places you'll hear their stuff now is classic rock radio...and let's face it, those stations sound more and more like listening safehouses for old farts. No, ELO was a monster act that was just hard to beat. Alas, ELO is pretty much a memory now so if you want to take a trip back to a time when rock acts were larger than life. I've seen a scruffy version of the 1978 Wembley appearance and it's a beaut to take in. I'm not sure how many extras this baby will have but if it at least has a cleaned-up version of the concert It'll already be a step in the right direction.

The Electric Light Orchestra were a really good band with really good music. That is the way I remember them so them having a new cd out is weird. not sure if I will enjoy it as much as their old music.
