Weezer - (Geffen/Interscope/Universal)

It would appear that Weezer are pushing their "Wuggies" (the band's signature Snuggie. yes, it's come to this) at least as hard as the new album it's cross-promoting, a burden of knowledge I wish I wasn't hauling around simply because I really like Raditude. Something I haven't been able to say about a Weezer album since that very first self-titled debut way back in '94. While the last couple of albums have been one-tune wonders, on this, their seventh, the band stop trying so hard, loosen the belts and let it all hang out. It's straight-ahead guitar-rock pop, sure, but Raditude is all about the bells and whistles: the electro-pop flourish here, the Lil Wayne guest spot there, an Indo-pop anthem (!) waaay over there and hugely tuneful melodies that'll leave you feeling warm all over. Like a Wuggie.
